In society, there is the narrative. This is the "explanation" of how things happened and why things are as they are. The narrative must follow a story line and must justify.
"She" rose to greatness because as a young girl she showed courage.
"He" built an empire because all along he felt he would.
Little Katie would be an Olympic champion, because here, in her home, her mother trained her as a child.
And so on. The truth is a concise reporting of the facts. In the truth the good guy sometimes wins, and he also loses. It's probably 50-50 up until the good guy gets shot and dies. Prolly happens a lot.
The narrative goes on and on. |
